If you want to be one of the greatest doctors in the world, then you should visit one of the best countries to work and travel. Tonight, Xiupeng and I are about to head back to Guangzhou from Wuxi. We live alongside Lihu Lake, with sunny weather every day. It’s about 20 kilometers from my home to the airport. There are 190,000 roses of all kinds decorating the overpass. Pink, red, yellow... different colors of them were fluttering in the wind under the sunset glow. My chauffeur Mr. Wang told me that these roses are worth 190 million yuan. We spent two weeks in Wuxi with abundant food for us to savor. We had shrimp, goose, duck, roasted duck eggs, chicken wings, and pig’s ears. We also enjoyed all sorts of delicate refreshments of Suzhou’s style. Wuxi’s tomatoes are so delicious, with a taste comparable to what we had back in childhood. We bought the tomatoes from the Daoxiang Market and it only cost 4 CNY with a very high-quality texture. All kinds of fruits are available in spring. I found happiness in life. We live in an ancient city surrounded by mountains and waters with a long history and rich culture. Our residence is close to Liyuan Garden which used to be the dwelling of Fan Li and Xi Shi, Nanchang Ancient Street, Donglin Academy, and Huishan Ancient Town Scenic Area. It is permeated in the style of the 1920s everywhere as if I was wandering in a movie scene. I have been to 48 countries and hundreds of cities, but my love will always go to a city of trees and plenty like Wuxi. We’ve also had four meals of shepherd's purse dumplings and various ice cream cones. And late in the afternoon one day, we went to Jichangyuan Garden, which was Emperor Qianlong’s favorite with a history of hundreds of years. Views in the garden were different at every step. Hills, lakes, towering ancient trees, small towers, and pavilions leaped into our eyes. It is the mirror of the romance of the Qing Emperor. On a sunny afternoon, Xiupeng and I went to Zhouxinli to enjoy Wuxi’s Cuisine. The squirrel-shaped mandarin fish and the foie gras with hawthorn were really top gourmet. We also visited the legacy given by Wuxi’s entrepreneur ZHOU Shunqing 102 years ago. The textile machine imported from Italy a century ago is placed on the square. All kinds of Western-style buildings set in the 1920s are well-proportioned. Under the sunset was the bridge and streams of water, and roses were crawling alongside the brook and all over the wall. Late at night, we went to the Hang Lung Plaza for Western cuisine, and the views were so fascinating. The traditional theatrical stage built 200 years ago perfectly blends with modern buildings. And the summer lanterns looked so gorgeous foiled by the ancient buildings. This is the Suzhou style of life I live in. My ear embraces the sounds of wind, rain, and literature, and my mind harbors affairs of my family, the nation, and the world.
